@Noah.Nowhere I HAVE to comment on this video. I'm pretty confident this home was built in the early to mid-60s. I say that because it has so many features that were prevalent in my childhood home that was built in 1963 & neighbourhood that was built within that window. The front door, the cedar shakes outside, heck even the door bell to the left of the front door is vintage of this era. How do I know? My childhood bungalow had the cedar shakes on the outside by the living room window & then by the bathroom / my bedroom window. The front door is very similar to what the bungalow next door had, only without the glass inserts. That is a cedar door. The glass blocks as the side lights would've been added in the 80s, just as my parents had done to our house during a major reno in 1987 - they had a glass block window installed on the front (ugly as hell, I hated it just as much now as I did back then when I was 13! But glass blocks were very much a popular trend in the 80s). I just sold my childhood home as POA for my widowed mother who has dementia. It was very hard to let it go after it being ours since 1971. The vintage door bell I swapped out & took with me before we sold it. It is identical to the one in this house except mine is black with a silver circle. It still works beautifully & will be installed in our home as it still works great. And seeing it reminds me of my childhood. Sorry to go on but I had to add my two cents from experience. This abandoned home would've been built early to mid 60s like mine was. Homes built in the late 70s / early 80s had very different features. I am sad this home is abandoned. What a beauty & what a waste. I hope a lot of the wood gets salvaged & restored.

Unfortunately this building never stood a chance. When it was built the area was crap. No one wanted to live there. Most of the area was left to rot. It wasn't till the distillery district opened up that things changed.

All I figure is the real estate under, and around, this home must be the most valuable in the world if it makes sense to demolish such a fine mansion. That's pretty ridiculous when you price compact, but insanely, expensive real estate in well heeled urban areas as those are astronomical and many times smaller. Perhaps there's structural and other problems? I'd say most of the video shows the home in remarkably good nick. I keep hearing the phrase "out dated". Out dated to what? Some flooring or something else that could be easily replaced. It has a lot of classic architecture that will transcend fads that come and go. Just doesn't make sense to tear it down unless that land is like the most desirable on planet earth.

I bet the central ac/heat went out and didn't replace the unit knowing the expense. So they put window units in.

Never heard of these before and I find it areally bad design -Very impractical. You can build economic housing in a square shape where more space can be utilized.

I loved, loved, loved the Pink and Purple flowers in the front yard. OH WAIT!!! THAT'S ETHAN'S JACKET! 😂😂😂😂 KIDDING. Like you say a lot of times. This would be a Great First house for someone. Beautiful, in and out.

I think that is not a mansion for a family. I think it was meant to be a hotel, a retreat house, or a place like those fancy hotels for rich people. It is scary with those narrow, curvy halls. The owner may have died, so the family decided to stop the build. It would appear that if this space were completely furnished, it would take billions of dollars and years to complete. What a waste of money!

Hell no! The basement did scare me. I don't know who would live in it with the low ceiling, mechanical equipment, and the sound the equipment would generate! The skylights and windows are cool, but I can imagine how hot this house would be in the summer. When the residents get older, they will not like abundance of light like that. I think the house wasn't friendly for users. Having said that, it is still a unique house.

I don’t think late ‘70s houses are considered mid-century modern. MCM probably ended in early ‘70s once the ‘60s had a chance to fade away.
